Clear Keyboard History on iPhone & iPad
The default Setting on iPhone & iPad is to allow the keyboard to learn from your typing style, so that it can automatically come up with words and phrases that you are likely to use in your conversation. While this feature should help in typing faster, it often goes wrong and hinders typing by suggesting incorrect or misspelled words and unnecessarily replacing typed words with incorrect or unwanted words. The solution for this problem is to Clear Keyboard History on iPhone and iPad and the permanent solution is to disable the Predictive Text feature on your device. Another reason for clearing Keyboard History or Disabling Predictive Text on iPhone or iPad is to prevent your device from showing pet names or code words as you are typing, especially when you are with people.
1. Clear Keyboard History on iPhone
If iPhone is starting to bother you with too many incorrect word suggestions, you can easily fix the problem by Clearing the Keyboard Dictionary. Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap on Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
This will erase all the words that iPhone has learnt from your typing, including all misspelled words, pet names and code words stored in the Keyboard Dictionary.
2. Disable Auto-Correction
Another solution is to disable the Auto-Correction feature, which still allows iPhone to suggest words, but prevents it from automatically correcting your typed words. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard and move the toggle next to Auto-Correction to OFF position.
After this, you will no longer find iPhone automatically correcting words that you type in iMessage and other Apps.
3. Permanently Disable Keyboard History on iPhone
If you do not want the hassle of clearing keyboard history from time to time, you can totally prevent iPhone from monitoring your typing and adding words to keyboard dictionary by disabling Predictive Text. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > On the next screen, move the toggle next to Predictive Text to OFF position.
After this, you will no longer find your iPhone or iPad bothering you with word suggestions and replacing your typed words.
